Fix Broken or Damaged Garage Door Springs in Parramatta
There are two types of garage door springs.
Torsion springs and extension springs.
Extension springs are fixed on the sides of the garage door. Their purpose is to help bear the weight of the garage door. They stretch and contract as the garage door opens.
Torsion springs are fixed above the garage door. They also help support the weight of the door.
There are different types of torsion springs. There is the standard residential torsion spring. This is the most common type. They are usually fastened at the center of a shaft right above the garage door. Standard residential torsion springs are usually installed in twos. Another, similar torsion spring is the EZ-Set. The difference between these and the standard springs is the former are installed at the ends of the shaft. EZ-set springs do not necessarily come in pairs. If the garage door is for a two-car garage, then there are two springs. If the door only accommodates one car, then there is only one spring.
Standard commercial torsion springs work in sets of two or more. They can even be more than four. Their arrangement varies. In linear arrangements, the springs are arranged along the shaft of the garage door. This arrangement is suitable for wide doors. In duplex arrangements, two sets of torsion springs are installed on opposite ends of the shaft. Each set consists of a spring within another spring. Triple arrangements are similar to duplex only each set of springs consists of three springs within each other.

Sometimes the arrangement combines all the previous arrangements. This is known as a mixed system.
There are two types of extension springs. The most popular type is the sectional garage door extension spring. They are installed parallel to the sides of the garage door. They bear the weight of the door as it closes. The springs stretch and balance this weight. The other type of garage door spring is the one-piece. It supports one large garage door. One-piece garage doors usually make use of either four or two extension springs.
